FULL PACKAGED PRODUCT (FPP)
FPP refers to boxed, licensed software. Typically, each FPP includes
one license, along with media and documentation, and is designed to meet
low-volume needs.
FPP licenses do not offer Microsoft Software Assurance for Volume
Licensing. However, you can acquire Software Assurance on its own within
90 days of acquisition of a FPP system or server software product
licenses, through any of the Microsoft Volume Licensing programs that
offer perpetual licenses. Customers who acquire five or more licenses
through a Volume Licensing program also receive special pricing and
supplementary benefits that are not offered with FPP licenses.
VOLUME LICENSING PROGRAMS
Serve the needs of organizations that acquire five or more licenses, but do not need multiple copies of the media and the documentation and do not want to keep track of numerous individual license agreements. Volume Licensing offers the potential for substantial savings, ease of deployment, flexible acquisition, varied payment options, and other benefits, such as ongoing maintenance. Simply stated, volume licensing of software makes it easier and more affordable to run software on multiple computers within an organization. By acquiring software licenses through Microsoft Volume Licensing programs, you only pay for the software license. Boxed software, on the other hand, includes media (the CD-ROM or DVD), a user's guide and other packaging items. Eliminating these physical costs and purchasing in volume often reduces cost and provides more customized purchasing options and improved software management.
Is Volume Licensing Right for You?
Organizations with 5 or more desktops should consider
volume licensing for ease and cost savings.
Software acquired through Microsoft Volume Licensing is a software
license only. A software license provides the right to run a Microsoft
software product. By acquiring software licenses through
Microsoft Volume Licensing programs, you only pay for the software
license. Boxed software, on the other hand, includes media (the CD-ROM
or DVD), a user's guide and other packaging items. Eliminating these
physical costs and purchasing in volume often reduces cost and provides
more customized purchasing options and improved software management.
